Bill in New Orleans

Bill Wolff had a vision to restore one home in New Orleans to a "move-in" condition. Bill arrived in New Orleans on April 4 and and came home the end of May.

The One Home project built a home for a woman in Kenner. Her family has lived in the house for 27 years. A little about the family: The homeowner is a recently widowed mother of 3. She has two of her children (ages 24 & 20) who lived with her in the FEMA trailer. 2005 was a very difficult year for the family. In January her brother-in-law, who had been living with the family at the time, was struck and killed by a truck on the street. Later that spring, her daughter was in a severe car accident. A few weeks later, her husband was robbed, shot and killed. Add in Hurricane Katrina and you get the picture. She teaches at a local Christian school. She had just recently found the emotional strength to begin the process of rebuilding.
