Bill in New Orleans

Bill Wolff has a vision to restore one home in New Orleans to a "move-in" condition. Bill arrived in New Orleans on April 4 and hopes to be done in May.

The One Home project finally has a home selected so we have a few more specifics on what needs to be done. It is the single mom’s home in Kenner. Her family has lived in the house for 27 years. A little about the family: The homeowner is a recently widowed mother of 3. She has two of her children (ages 24 & 20) still living with her in the FEMA trailer. 2005 was a very difficult year for the family. In January her brother-in-law, who had been living with the family at the time, was struck and killed by a truck on the street. Later that spring, her daughter was in a severe car accident. A few weeks later, her husband was robbed, shot and killed. Add in Hurricane Katrina and you get the picture. She teaches at a local Christian school. She has just recently found the emotional strength to begin the process of rebuilding.

We can still use your help!

  • Bill will basically need help for 6-9 weeks. It is Creekside's dream to have at least 2 additional people in New Orleans helping each week. Mercy Response is providing housing and meals through the Vineyard Church in Kenner. You would just need to get yourselves down there and back and provide your own transportation while down there. Creekside is coordinating groups to go down this spring. If you can help, please email Lynn (lynnf@ecreekside.com).
  • Bill still needs to raise about $12,000 more to completely fund this project. Grab an envelope in the Welcome Area or visit his website www.wmsconstruction.org/onehome. (You can also tell your friends and family about this project by sending them a link to Bill's website.)
