The 167: December 5, 2019

As we continue to head into the month of December, I want to give you a heads up about a few things that are directly connected to our ongoing emphasis on the 167 hours between our Sunday worship gatherings.

I’m praying that we all would continue to encounter Jesus in deeper and more transforming ways as we walk through this Advent journey.  This is such a special season where there seems to be such a softening and opening from others to be able to encounter the real meaning and person of Christmas.  As we continue to encounter Him in a personal way, my encouragement to all of us is to be alert and aware to how God is moving (in small and big ways) in the lives of people right around you as we gather for special meals and events.

To that end, we are being very intentional with the messages and focus of these remaining Sundays in December and on Christmas Eve.  This is a great time to invite friends to join you for one of our services.  As we engage with some very common Advent/Christmas passages, we are going to move beyond an intellectual reminder of these familiar texts and hopefully encounter the truly radical and life-transforming message of this season.

And specifically, I wanted to let you know way ahead of time about our service on December 29.  This is going to be a very special morning of sharing stories about how we have encountered God in a real way over the past year.  I’m giving you this specific head’s up, because I’d love as many people to be thinking about this and ready to share.  But also…we are going to make a very specific invitation on Christmas Eve for people to come back the following Sunday and hear the diverse variety of how multiple people have truly encountered this very real God.  It’s going to be a great morning.  And I know many may still be travelling, but I really encourage you to make the effort to be there. 🙂
