Navigating Change

Change is hard. (I have an uncanny gift for pointing out the obvious!)
Not only are we navigating change here at Creekside, but we’re navigating a lot of change in our own home.
Most of you know that Sarah accepted a job with an interior design firm down in Santa Ana, CA and has lived down there for a little over a year. The Ferrin 5…down to the Ferrin 4.
Many of you also know that Caleb is in his 3rd year at Colorado State University. The Ferrin 4…down to the Ferrin 3.
What you might not know is that our 17-year-old, Hannah is spending her junior year of high school as an exchange student in Italy. She left right after Labor Day. Her program ends the first week of July!
Yup. 10 months! (As a point of reference, working at Cascades Camp for two weeks is the longest she’s ever been away from us.
Now Kari and I are home alone. The Ferrin 3 down to the Ferrin 2. (Well…we’ve got the dog. So, there’s that.)
We miss her like crazy! We don’t know all that God is doing. Or going to do. Or why. Or when. Or how.
Here’s where I’m camping…
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In every prayer for all of you, I always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:3-6
Paul was writing to people he loved who were far away. People he hadn’t seen for a long time. Oh…and he writes from prison.
Talk about changes.
I’m camping here because it carries some reminders I need in this time of change:
· I can thank God for people I’m not with.
· I can pray with joy.
· We’re in this together. (That’s what “partnership” is after all!)
· We can be confident that what God began, He will be faithful to complete.
What change are you navigating? What Scripture are you holding onto in the midst of it?
